Jason is excited to start his second season with the Lodge 88 Swim Club and the growing community of swimmers.

Jason is excited to continue to offer swim programming to the greater Houston area. He utilizes thoughtful technique-driven coaching to swimmers ages four and older. For the past 20 years, Jason has worked with Houston swimmers of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.

Much of Jason’s extensive experience comes from his last 15 years as Head Coach for RICE Aquatics. Under his leadership, the team has grown to over 200 swimmers, achieving new excellence levels and developing into the top 200 ranked USA swim team. Jason is most proud of the lasting relationships built with hundreds of swimmers and families that have stepped on the deck looking to try the sport of swimming and a community of families that have grown into a large swim family.

Jason’s ability to implement proper stroke techniques and mechanics while keeping the atmosphere fun and enjoyable for the swimmers has allowed his athletes to achieve success at all levels of competition.

  • Numerous National, Jr National, Sectional, State qualifiers.

  • Ten of his swimmers competed for their college teams at conference or NCAA Championship meets this past year alone.

  • Admin Vice-Chair of GULF Swimming Board of Directors 2014-2018

  • USA Swimming National Committee for Club Development 2014 – 2018.

  • Has served on multiple committees and select coaching of the Gulf All-Star team, Gulf Zone team, and “Catch the Spirit” camps

Michael Nordmann

Learn 2 Swim Level 3 – 4 Instructor 

Coach Nordmann is a Missouri native that comes to HTX Swim with over 26 years of coaching experience. Moving to Houston in 2007, Michael has worked with The Woodlands Swim Team, the Cypress Fairbanks Swim Club, and most recently, the Magnolia Aquatic Club.

Nordmann swam in St. Louis with the Sugar Creek Swim Club, CSP Tideriders & Rockwood Swim Club. A Senior National qualifier, Nordmann competed for the University of Utah, where he was an All-Conference athlete.

Nordmann served Magnolia in many roles. Head Age Group Coach to Senior Team Coach, Associate Head Coach, and Interim Head Coach. Mike guided Magnolia to Level 4 in USA Club Recognition Program and Recognized Club status from USA Safe Sport. Mike’s athletes have TAGS, Sectional, and Junior National titles. Many members have gone on to represent schools in NCAA competitions.

As a leader in Gulf Swimming, Michael volunteered his time and efforts on the Board of Directors Executive Committee, holding such positions as Coaches Representative, Records Coordinator, Club Development Liaison, and Awards Committee. Nordmann coached athletes at North American Challenge Cup, LSC Open Water Championships, and the Southern Zone Age Group Championships.

Coach Nordmann is married to Amy Sullivan Nordmann (a 3-time NCAA National Champion in volleyball), a physician, specializing in the early detection of breast cancer. Michael and Amy have four daughters, Lucie and Lillie; both swim for Stanford University. Mary and Zoe swim with the Magnolia Aquatic Club and represent The Woodlands High School.

When not swimming, Michael enjoys listening to music, watching movies, and hanging out with his dogs, Phoebe and Louie.

Tony Miller Jr.

Learn 2 Swim Level 3 – 4 Instructor 

Coach Tony comes to HTX Swims from RICE Aquatics where he spent the last year working primarily with 12 and Under swimmers. Tony previously spent 4 years club coaching in Cincinnati, OH for the Mercy Health Sea Wolves. While there he coached the High school and 12 & under groups. Aside from competitive swimming at Mercy Health, Tony helped start an affordable swim lesson program for lower-income families in the Cincinnati area. Tony also spent 2 seasons coaching for Loveland high school.

Tony spent four years as a member of the Xavier men’s swimming program, contributing to the Musketeer’s BIG EAST Championships in 2014, 2015, and 2016. After graduating college, he went on to be an assistant coach at Xavier University (OH) for 2 seasons while winning one BIG EAST championship in 2019. Tony is originally from Missouri City, Texas and is a Rice Aquatics alum. He graduated from Xavier University in 2017 with a degree in Communication Studies.

Carlon MCclerkin

Learn 2 Swim Level 2 – 4 Instructor 

Carlon MCclerkin is a Houston, Tx native who comes to HTX Swims after an extensive swimming background in USA Swimming (HCAP) and HISD (Lamar High School). Carlon has been swimming competitively since the age of four with Harris County Aquatics Program (HCAP). Carlon turned his focus to swimming once he achieved multiple TAGS standards as an age grouper. . From that point forward, he fell in love with the sport of swimming. Carlon is currently a part of the 4×400 freestyle relay record for Lamar High School.

Carlon pursued his swimming at the collegiate level at Barton County Community College and then transferred to Lindenwood University. Carlon is currently enrolled in the University Of Houston in the Global Hospitality and Leadership Program and wants to pursue a career in aquatic Sports.

In addition to HTX Swims Carlon is currently apart of the Swimming staff for The Awty School.

Max Lombardo

Learn 2 Swim Level 1 – 4 Instructor 

Coach Max works with the USA Bridge program as the entry point into HTX Swims. Coach Max currently is enrolled at UH majoring in Finance and is a native Houstonian.

Max has experience teaching with RICE SYAP program where he was a WSI instructor for all levels of campers. Max enjoys teaching the fundamentals of all four strokes while also keeping the classes fun and exciting. He comes from a background of multiple sports but currently spends time lifint while not studying or on the pool deck.
